4 Ways to Help Prepare for Hunting Season During the Off-Season

Just because it’s the off-season, doesn’t mean that you need to give hunting up in its entirety. There is always something you can do to improve your skills during the off-season! Here are a few practices that will be sure to keep your skills sharp and get you prepared for the upcoming hunting season.

Take a Trip to the Shooting Range

It never hurts to practice shooting during the off-season. Shooting year-round can help you improve your aim and help make your weapon an extension of you. Plus, the more times you practice shooting, the more muscle memory you will create, which will eventually make you a more confident hunter.

Not to mention, going to a shooting range can help you connect with other hunters from your area. If you talk to the right person, you can exchange tips and learn new information during your visits!

Learn New Hunting Skills

If you can’t find someone to talk to at the shooting range, take it upon yourself to research a new skill to bring into the next season. Perform some research and then find ways to practice it so that you can use it on your next hunt. Maybe it’s as easy as trying new ammo, or purchasing a new piece of hunting gear!

Go Through Your Hunting Gear

If you’ve had the same hunting gear for a while, it may be time to invest in something new for the season. However, before you purchase new equipment, go through your old gear first and get rid of items that you no longer need. Clearing your closet from old gear will help create more space in your hunting bag, and you’ll now have room to purchase new pieces that will be of use to you this season.

Check for Broken Equipment

On your firearms, make sure you are looking out for any loose screws that could have an impact on how your gun shoots. Also, make sure that items like your jackets and tents are free from any rips and tears. If you keep your hunting gear stored away during most of the off-season, make sure that you are pulling it out a few times to make sure it remains intact.
