How to Organize Your Tackle Box

How to Organize Your Tackle Box

We’ve all been there, digging through our messy tackle box, trying to find that one lure we need to fish. Spending unnecessary time searching through your box to find these needed items can waste precious time that you could be spending focusing on the water. Don’t waste your time searching and risk injuring yourself by digging through your tackle box. Here are some helpful organization tips that you can use to help keep your tackle box neat and organized!

Empty the Box and Get Rid of Excess

Although emptying your tackle box may sound intimidating at first, you’ll be much happier once you do it. Take the opportunity to wipe everything down and thoroughly clean the compartments. Once cleaned, it’s time to start going through your stuff. Think about it, you can only cast one lure at a time, so it doesn’t make much sense keeping an unnecessary amount in your box. Rule of thumb, if you haven’t used it in a year, it’s probably time to put it into storage at home!

Separate and Categorize Items

After cleaning your box, look at all the items you have. Then, you can start separating them into piles based on what they are. If you don’t already have one, it is beneficial to use a tackle box with multiple compartments! That way, you can sort your tools by what you use the most or even by color.

Create Labels for Organization

Creating labels for the different compartments, drawers, and bags in your tackle box will save you time from searching and will allow you more time for fishing. Plus, once everything is labeled, it will make for easier cleanup.

Take the Time to Follow Your Labels

Once you spend the extra time and effort reorganizing your tackle box, make sure you stay on top of your organization by keeping things neat and clean! If you let your tackle box get too disorganized, this can lead to tangled fishing lines or even injuries from digging around your box. If you’re going to take the time to organize, you should continue to work hard to keep it neat.
